London Building Renovation have a small dedicated team of roofers, with the two skilled members of the team having their NVQ 3 in Roof Slating and Tiling. We specialise in slating and plain tile roofs and are keen to promote the benefits, both aesthetic and performance, of clay and slate. This focus on the two traditional types of roof covering, ties in with our general philosophy of correct period restoration.
Continuing the theme of training and manufacturer accreditation, Kevin has also overseen and implemented acceptance as Velux VIP installers and approved installers of the Mustang seamless guttering scheme.
When it comes to flat roofing, we have taken a very serious approach to this often maligned form of roofing. If carried out correctly, a flat roof can last many years. Under the Team Icopal scheme we are able to offer a manufacturer’s guarantee of 20 years, with Firesmart installation. We completed one of these installations at the Lycée Français Francais in South Kensington and are shortly to undertake a 600m² installation in Neasden. Quality standards and technical issues are dealt with by Kevin Nind, owner in LBR. Kevin holds an NVQ 5 in Construction Management. We take standards very seriously and in 2013 we became Competent Roofers under the self-certification scheme, as well as being accepted a year earlier to be Redland Select roofers and part of the Team Icopal network.
As part of the Velux VIP installer’s network, we are able to undertake fitting of all Velux products.

Our operatives are trained to a high standard and we regularly attend manufacturers’ installer’s courses and are committed to offering the complete roofline service for the discerning customer.
Legislation states that when replacing over 25% of a roof, all thermal elements of the roof must be upgraded; this basically means that you must insulate the entire roof space. You can either do this at loft floor level, or you can do it at rafter level. One is very cheap to carry out (loft ceiling level) and the other is more expensive (rigid insulation at rafter level). The downside with insulating at ceiling level is that you lose all storage facilities in the loft, as the insulation sticks up 27cm above the ceiling height. Insulating at this level is very much an easy DIY job. Insulating at rafter level has to be done more carefully, as there is a much greater risk of creating condensation without following strict procedures.
From restoration of original period details at soffit and fascia board level, through to traditional cast iron or modern extruded aluminium systems, up through slated and plain clay tiled roofs, flat roofs with 20 year guarantees or correctly re-built chimneys, we should be considered first when attention to detail and quality is required.
