Our History

At London Building Renovation we care about the details. Over the past 20 years we have lovingly restored countless Victorian, and other period properties houses in Harrow on the Hill, as well as Edwardian mansion block flats in Marylebone, Kensington and Chelsea, schools in Northwood and Victorian cottages in Richmond.

Whether you have a charming worker’s cottage built in 1840, a grand townhouse, a wonderful mansion flat from 1910, or a church/school building built in the last 200 years, we can demonstrate a catalogue of restoration works carried out on all of these buildings. Our passion and enthusiasm for period detail and correct methods remains undimmed.  Call the office now on 020 8423 3131 to discuss you requirements.

We take pride in using period correct materials and detailing and prefer to restore wherever possible. We use natural materials, such as lime for pointing and plastering, slate, lead, natural stone, reclaimed matched bricks and we restore/replace sash windows in these properties with period correct sash windows/door.

We undertake a great deal of exterior structural work, often tackling jobs that many do not wish to undertake.  We recently rebuilt a mid 19th century Victorian failed flank wall in a conservation area, after developing a system of rebuilding the brickwork in strategic panels. Using lime mortar we rebuilt the entire end of the house before applying a lime render over.  This sympathetic approach towards our aging housing really does separate London Building Renovation from other builders.

Our understanding of old buildings and the systems used to construct them, has enabled us to correct many problems from poorly advised “improvements” such as cement rendering and strap pointing.

We are passionate about period details, slate roofs, cast iron guttering, correctly functioning chimneys, timber-frame sash windows, internal and external cornice details, stained glass and leaded light.

If you are looking for a building contractor who really does care about the aesthetics and minor details we would be delighted to hear from you with a view to carrying out a job for you.
