Velux installed by trained roofers under Certified Installer Partnership. Why take a risk?
The fitting of your Velux window, is a reasonably straight forward procedure. However, sometimes there are problems.
The most common problems we encounter are:
- Uneven or rotten roof rafters.
- The area where the roof window is to be inserted, is full of storage and your other items making it impossible to work.
- The area for the roof window has a water tank directly beneath it.
- Obsolete roof tiles.
- Loft hatch/access too small to pass the window through.
Fitting of Velux sun tunnels
A sun tunnel installation can usually be carried out within a day. In most instances it does not require any scaffold.
To ensure a successful installation of your sun tunnel, it is very important that the entire area around the tunnel, is clear before the fitting team arrive.
It is also critical that the loft space allows for a 2 m² working area and a completely clear passage for the sun tube and tools.
Conservation areas
Velux make conservation roof windows. Although the window itself costs more to purchase, the good news is that the installation is exactly the same. Before proceeding with the installation of any window in a conservation area, it would be wise to contact your local authority conservation enforcement officer, to ascertain their position on roof windows.
